MUSIC VIDEO: The Freshmen (The Verve Pipe) Posted Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at {ts '2010-09-07 14:52:00'} For the uninitiated, Brian wrote "The Freshmen" sometime around 1990. I once asked him when the first time he played it publically was and I think he said it was a performance in 1990 with the band he was in PRIOR to forming The Verve Pipe, "Johnny with an Eye". I joked with Brian about how it was practically classic rock now. The video you see above of course was from the re-recorded version that appeared on the single that the band released, since everyone hated the album version from "Villians" (it originally appeared on The Verve Pipe's debut album "I've Suffered A Head Injury" in 1992). Okay, hated is a bit harsh, but the song was always his song and his song alone, and he plays it now the way it was originally written, just him and his guitar. And sometimes no guitar! I just wanted to post this video here for some of the newbies that might wander into our little BVA paradise. Please spread the word, post this code on your blog, myspace, etc |

RE: MUSIC VIDEO: The Freshmen (The Ver Posted Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at {ts '2010-09-07 16:02:00'} i've often wondered how many people heard the "radio" version of "the freshmen," rushed out and bought the album, heard the unfamiliar old version, and decided to hate the verve pipe forever. i know they re-released the album with the new version, but there had to be quite a few original pressings snatched up by unsuspecting MTV fans. |
